There's an organization called Share International, founded by Benjamin Creme in UK, who is waiting for Maitreya, the new world teacher to go public. Creme and other people in the organization see connections between this Maitreya and Sai Baba. Here's the link:

I have known of Share International for a long time now. Their leader, Creme, says that Sai Baba is not the ultimate God, but that Maitreya is. He further said that Maitreya had told him in visions/talks/whatever that he will announce his coming to the world by taking over all channels of all televisions in the world. Well, that didn't happen on the date that was promised. A few other "interesting" prophecies by Creme did not happen either and the Maitreya seems to be shying away from people. Creme is just trying to create his own cult and can use the association of sai baba.

Yes, the history of Share International has been an interesting one. It started of as a purported promoter of Alice Bailey's teachings. But my personal opinion is that those teachings have never been represented clearly or truthfully by Creme, and that over time the distortions have increased considerably.

I agree with Said that Creme is out to build his own empire. He has done this by claiming to be personally in touch with ascended masters, who will answer practically any silly question which he poses, but are of course unavailable to the rest of us. :)

I believe that Creme's attempt to create an association with sb is primarily a ploy to get a cut of the numbers.
