Andries,
I also remember a danish TV program/documentary from the time I was a devotee. And there
was a woman who told she had been cured from cancer by SB. If I remember correctly she had
had some medical treatment before she went to SB and when in India she felt cured..or even
SB said she was.. and when she came home and was checked the cancer was gone.
And yes, her story seemed convincing. And might well be true. And she might be convinced
it was all SB doing the curing. But it didn't have to be that way. Some cancers are cured
by medication, some spontaneously, sometimes faith helps.
But when I think back at my years as a devotee and the many ill devotees that went to SB
hoping for a cure, and most of them never got any cure. But that was never seen as a sign
that he wasn't God.. then it was just the persons karma.. and God's wisdom we didn't
understand.. Or in a few cases when ill people coming to SB trusting that he would help..
and when they died.. Then we (the devotees) all thought.."OOH, what a great favour SB
gave him/her to let him/her die in such a divine atmosphere as Prashanti!"..
So I still keep thinking GOD WHAT A FOOL I WAS
Maybe I let myself be fooled because I WANTED it to be true. And I did feel at times
almost euphorically happy as a devotee.
The mind is a very very complex thing. Scary and fascinating at the same time. Now as I
look at the those still devotees and see it all with different eyes. And I know how
difficult it is to make them 'see things differently'.
